Westlake for Wishes Mission
We strive to engage Westlake High School and the greater Austin community in raising awareness of Make-A-Wish's mission.
Westlake for Wishes has undertaken the pleasure and responsibility of sponsoring a Wish for a local child with a life-threatening illness. In doing so, we set a goal of raising $7500 to make that child's life shine brighter.
Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
Meet the Founders
Twin brothers, Sam and Julian Benesch (pictured with sister Grace), know firsthand the life-changing power of a Wish.
When Sam received his Wish at age 5, he had already endured dozens of surgeries; clocked nearly a year's worth of hospital stays; and endured an endless schedule of breathing treatments, medications, and doctors' appointments - not to mention needing to be attached to oxygen tanks at all times.
When Make-A-Wish sent Sam on a week-long Disney cruise, they did more than just grant his Wish to walk on the beach with Mickey Mouse; they helped Sam's family think beyond his lung disease to all of the memories and adventures that are possible with a little hard work and creativity.
In the 12 years since his Wish, Sam has been able to travel, visit family, snow ski, snorkel, hike, boogie board, kayak, stand up paddle, and more.
Sam and Julian are proud Westlake Chaps, and they knew their school would be the perfect place to share Make-A-Wish's mission.
Our meetings are every other Wednesday at 4:20 in Rm 348.
